The Battle of Quebec
The Battle of Quebec took place on September 13th, 1759. It was one of the later battles in the French and Indian War also known as the Seven Years War. This battle was also called the Battle of Plains of Abraham because it was fought at the Plains of Abraham. This battle was fought between the British and the French along the St. Lawrence River. The French were on a steep hill which didn't allow the British to gain any control over the French. However, the British were able to find a small path going around the French settlement. On the night of September 13th, 1759, the British initiated their plan. They surprised the French and won the battle. During the fight, Major General James Wolfe, the general in charge of the British, was killed. However, the British losses were substantially lower than the French. This battle greatly helped bring an end to the French and Indian War. Also, it moved the British one step closer to pushing the French out of America. In the end, this battle allowed the Americans to gain independence over the British. When the French were pushed out of America by the British, they were very angry. Once the Revolutionary War started, they decided to side with the Americans. This helped the americans to win the Revolutionary War.
